Map Framing

I have been wanting to find some old maps for a long time of places that were special to Jeff and me and have them framed. At first I thought city maps of Knoxville, Nashville, Austin and now Houston would be perfect. For some reason I have wanted four maps though, and only been able to figure out three locations.

I found these maps yesterday and I love them but I am in my same predicament of only having 3 places again cause these are states...

I have Texas, Tennessee and Hawaii but I need a fourth state that has some significance. I may just end up buying 3 maps cause I think these are so cool!

To do Lists!

Hello Everyone!

There is so much to do with unpacking today and I keep on making lists and losing them for all of the things I need to do. So, I was really excited when I found this awesome post by favorite blogger about her to do list program.

I love clean and simple and this really is:

the best part is that it sinks to your iphone and so you can always update it. and when you click on it it crosses it off! isn't that nice and clean!

Help me choose a couch!

Hi friends,

Jeff has conceded and we are going to move the ole leather couch into the office and I am going to get a new couch! I have 5 choices and I can't decide which one to get. Can you all tell me which one you would get or your favorite design?

P.S. We are going to buy a couch from www.customsofadesign.com. I talked to them on the phone and read a ton of reviews and everyone has raved about them. I am having fabric samples sent this week! Wish me luck! (choose the couch with the best structure not the fabric color cause that will change.)

Couch 1 - Belize

I like the Belize's structure but I wish the pillows went all the way to the arms. They will make the pillows larger for me if I would like.

Couch 2 - Carol

I really love the Carol, It looks comfortable and pretty traditional. I love English rolled arms so I would see if they could change the arms to more of an English roll arm. Also, I LOVE when cushions come out in front of the arms.


Couch 3 - Lola

Really structured and doesn't look very comfortable but I like the curved back.


Couch 4 - Maybel

I really like the 3 cushions here and again I like the cushions in front of the arms

Couch  5 - Voltaire

Trying not to think of Twilight here.... Voltaire... but I like this couch (not the fabric) I think it has clean lines and I am like cushions on the back being sewn in.

skirted tables/table ideas

Our new house is very modern with floor to ceiling windows and modern lines. The lady who showed it to us kept calling it a soft loft. Our old house had a real traditional but Frank Lloyd Wright feel to it. I don't feel like our entry table really matches our new houses look but I am not in the position to run out and buy a new table.

So, I could either make a skirted table from this tutorial I have found or I was thinking i could paint it and then buy a mirror to set on top of it. I could get more modern baskets as well to make it feel like it fits in the house better.

Here is the table in our old house:

The table is from pottery barn and it is an outdoor table. it isn't available anymore.

So, I could paint it grey and then find some baskets to go under it. Has anyone ever tried spray painting baskets? If I could hit these with a metallic spray paint I could reuse these cause they are a great size!

I would like to use a really simple greek key or japanese pattern fabric if I decide to skirt it.

Off to go furniture shopping! Today my goal is to find a cheap 3x5 rug and a cheap couch! Have a great day!

Made it to Houston!

We made it to Houston! Our furniture wont be here till Tuesday. Below are some pictures of our new apartment. We are going to set some ikea desks up tonight.

We went with dark wood tops but I still plan to paint the legs gold. I am working on a rug for that room but I am having a tough time making a decision.

Tonight Jeff and I are thinking of taking Hank the dog to the Boneyard, a dog park that serves beer and wine! 

above pic is of course the kitchen. Please excuse all of the random stuff everywhere.

Here is the living room. Hank is a tad bit worried right now. He is very sure to stay close so he doesn't get left in this weird place.

Hank is eating an oven mitt my mom made me. Don't worry Mom, we rescued it!

our awesome shower! Isn't it wonderful! I've never had a shower like this before, only bathtub showers.

This is a view of the medical center and rice village. In front is Hermann Park. Houston is to the north of this picture and has a massive skyline. Sadly we are on the wrong side of the building...

Moving Day

It's packing day! I'm not helping cause they asked me not to, but I'm still wiped.

Gossip Girl Chair

Mkay - I love gossip girl sooooo much! My friend gave me the dvd's about a month ago and I am finished with season 1 and season 2. I LOVE CHUCK BASS AND BLAIR WOLDORF!

So, after feverishly googling the chair (set of 2) in the back for weeks I finally figured it out! I have the secret! (front chair is an Eames chair.)

 But the back chair is... drum roll... the BOBBINS CHAIR!
