So, if everything works out, we will sign the lease on our new condo Saturday. Jeff and I are going to drive down to Houston and look at some places. I secretly have my eye one place though. It is smaller than our current place which will be good for purging. I have been laying out furniture ideas and plans and settled on this one:
1. armoire (rooms to go about 4 years ago) 2. jute rug from ikea, 3. lee industries sofa, 4. crate and barrel love seat, 5. target chairs 6. new long end table.... possibly a desk
So, obviously I'll need a few things like a love seat, my lee industries couch, table for behind the couch, and some pillows and coordinating accessories.
My friend has a love seat that looks similar to this one:
So I am thinking of having this recovered in a really simple tone on tone greek key pattern. i think a light brown or similar for color.
I will want to have matching pillows all the way around the room of course.
I was looking at Trad Home and came across this beautiful fabric on this chair. I'll need to order the fabric from a to the trade fabric store but isn't it BEAUTIFUL!
I have a jute rug and a great armoire.
I also have two chairs from target that are really bold. I am thinking of choosing a really nice blue or something similar for a fabric and making a larger pillow for those chairs to break the pattern up some. It would be a solid color for sure.
I will also want some Queen Annes chairs to go beside the armoire and some art to hang above them. More on that later. I have to find those chairs first... hello Craigslist!

We have an announcement...
Jeff and I are moving to Houston! We found out on Friday and it has been a whirlwind of emotion, excitement and nerves! Jeff works for Dollar General and he has accepted the Regional Director position for the Houston region. Things are going to go really quickly, we move in 2 weeks! We are really sad to leave Austin, it's the best place on earth. We hope we can say the same about Houston though.
We are currently looking for a place to live and once Jeff figures out his schedule next week and the following, we will keep you updated on where we will be living, when exactly we will be there and all of the details! Meanwhile I have to take tons of pictures of our house for memories, we have dinner out every night to say good bye to our friends and we want to visit all of our favorite places around Austin before we leave. Jeff and I are going to make an Austin bucket list and hopefully find an apartment tomorrow!
we are hoping to have another view, live near a big park. Something maybe like this:
So far we hear inside the loop is the way to go. (small loop around Houston inside interstate 610)
We haven't decided what to do about my job yet. I am going to pursue my design company more now and hopefully fill my time with that.
If you have any friends in Houston please let us know, we are actively recruiting new Houston friends!!
Ill post pictures of the apartment and our favorite places in Austin, plus the new house, new dog parks and the whole journey along the way! Good bye Austin, Hello Houston!!

Wallpapering my endtables!!
there are so many wallpaper choices and since i need such a small amount, I can spend a bit more money. I have been digging this anthropologie wall paper for a while now. It is $150 a roll.
I really love this wallpaper company from NY, Cavern Home. They are very architectural and unique. Here are some of my favorites. I need to make sure that my pattern is small though cause the space is small and i want everyone to be able to see the repeat. this may be a bit large for my tables, but I love the colors and the pattern.

This is a great color, the repeat* is still really large though and I am looking for something with a smaller design.
*repeat- the vertical distance between one point on the pattern to the identical point vertically

Forever 21 decor
I was in F21 the other day (my favorite place on Earth) and I was working my way through their heaps of cheap jewelry when I spotted these great paper mached heads. I snapped some iPhone pic's and I plan to recreate this one day.
Aren't they cute! Would you paper mache the heads or do you think you would choose soemthing more subtle like balls or a vase?

West Elm Finds
I went to West Elm today with a friend who asked for some help accessorizing. Really this is so flattering she asked me I was beside myself to help and took my job very seriously. I really hope she had fun and feels good about her purchases today!
West Elm is having a great sale. They have got some great accessories-
this little tray is AMAZING!
right now it is $49.00 so I will keep my eye on it and wait for it to go on sale.
I did find this little bowl (in turquoise):
I really love it!! it is being displayed on my coffee table now!
i also got this little blue chevron plate and a tray/outdoor dinner plate for my bedside table!
I'll post my friend accessories soon! Such fun!
by the way- I got this all for under 20 dollars! Yay me!

Couch Upgrade
When I moved in with my husband, he had a condo and it was furnished with all leather everything and dark wood everthing else. We have been married for a little over a year and I have almost transformed/replaced everything except for his leather couch.
Here are the pros of this couch. It is leather and there is a certain someone (my 90 LB dog, Hank) that loves to lounge on there. I can just wipe the couch down and he can't destroy it which is a must.
here is Hank the couch monster:
So, I want to replace it with leather. I love Lee Industries sofas. They sell them at Crate and Barrel and some great boutiques in Austin.
I love the arms of this couch and the camel colored leather. I think camel looks great with everything and is such a pleasing color. Of course I wouldn't use the pillows But they could be a really cool look for a bedroom as an accent. So I'll store them in our guest closet and Jeff (partner in crime) can try and sneakily give them to goodwill every six months

Tex Mex Design
Mexican Otomi fabrics are so much fun and bring so much color into a home. I love to wear Mexican inspired looks as well as incorporate them into design especially here in Austin where there is such a great Mexican influence.
i love using a bunch of different colored otomi prints on a classic clean white couch. via
If you have a really simple clean look in your eating area, this can be a dramatic way to add color and bring the room to life! it makes the table the focal point.
You can buy that red fabric at Jacaranda.
I also love this dress from free people, while not and Otomi fabric, It gives the feel of a great throw blanket that has a poncho-esque feel.
these are beautiful Mexican inspired dresses from Elle Magazine.
Do you love the vibrant colors from Mexican fabrics or do you prefer to stay more neutral?
